Here Comes The Rain

It rained quite a lot lately, especially in the evening and at night. With the temperature as low as 26 Deg C, it is nice to enjoy the pleasant cold weather.

Depending on how you look at it but if you have ever stayed or lived in Miri City, I couldn’t have picked better days for lunching out with friends. Why? Yesterday it was 26Deg C with the wind chill during the noon hour. It was such a nice feeling eating out comfortably at an open-air coffee house. My girlfriends were happy to have their cardigan and jacket taken off and enjoyed the cold breeze brushing and caressing their faces and bodies! Some of us even suggested that one of these days we are going to enjoy our ice cream in the rain! Hmmm… guess that’s sexy feelings, eh?

Today it is supposed to be another cold day of the week, with showers of rain expected in some areas around the city, as reported by the Weatherman. It doesn’t seem to be as yet, perhaps it will by evening time. Temperature is reading 31Deg C and it is a sunny day today. Just a moderate temperature; it is good to have some fresh air in the room on some days of the year! Honestly speaking, I am not really too keen to have the air-conditioning put on for 24 hrs mode. The cold air gives me the chill and my joints hurt and body aching. Gee! These must signs of old age! Oh yes! Think about the huge electricity bills to be paid at the end of the month too!. Oh well, the good is for the bad, the bad is for the good, a Chinese saying as mentioned by one of my colleagues.

Our office staffs were reminded about flooding most likely to happen at the highest tides, which occur between approximately 8.00 p.m. and 2.00 a.m. on the following nights of 17th, 22nd, 31st January and 1st February 2007. Though the chances of actual flooding on these nights will depend very much upon the weather conditions at the time, precautions should nevertheless be taken to protect work and residential areas at risk.

All employees are also reminded to take particular care on the roads at night particularly Jalan Pantai (between the Lutong office and former Lutong Airstrip) to avoid getting caught in any floods; remember to check your vehicle brakes after going through flood waters.

My grandchildren were not too happy with the rainy days. They have been complaining about not able to play outside at the yard and also could not have a swim in their rubber swimming pool. Well, though the rainy day puts a damper on how long they can play outside, the cold breezy winds were enough to keep the atmosphere in our living room comfortable for them to play with their toys and “play-school” with each other. My eldest grandson, Nigel is in preschool this year and for that he enjoys scribbling on his school workbooks and waste papers.
It may be tomorrow morning by the time it starts feeling any warmer, Weatherman said. Nevertheless, we are enjoying the cold weather for now and let Mr. Sun have some rests. He will surely share his sunshine again, as always! For the moment, this nice and pleasant environment is already a blessing.

The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing. - Psalm 65:13
